Despite being a relatively new website, it currently lists 350 trail events in its 2007 diary and recently logged its 250,000th visitor. At present, the site is attracting 1000-2000 visitors per day, but this is growing by 20-30 per cent month on month as the website becomes better known and as this particular section of athletics continues to grow. Rather than just being a source of information, though, there is an online entry facility and it is used as a platform for trail running advertisers as far afield as Colorado and Italy. There is also a news section and the site carries various race reports. Future months are set to see a trail running forum introduced, together with a section that sells photographs from trail events – so this is certainly a website to keep an eye on if you enjoy running on dust or mud. Finally, the site links to the the website of the popular Lakeland Trails series and if you have never tried trail running before then AW recommends targeting one of the future races such as the Puma Trailfox Ullswater Trail Race on November 3. |
