Webwise Stop surfing around and let AW Basics do the legwork for you instead. Every week we profile the most informative and inspirational sites on the net MOST athletes worth their salt have their own website and most of the sites are pretty good, full of nice images and interesting diary columns. But one of the best is the site of Marlon Devonish. The sprinter goes to the IAAF World Championships in Osaka this month as one of Britain’s best medal hopes. He won the 100m and 200m at the recent World Trials and UK Championships and runs the 100m and 4x100m in Osaka. What makes his site interesting, though, is that a large part of it is devoted to his hobby – his art. It is a pretty serious hobby, too, and Devonish is so good that he is able to supplement his income with his drawings and paintings, which can be seen on the site. It shows that athletes are not one-dimensional characters obsessed by their sport. In Devonish’s case, his artwork shows a different side that of which many people would ordinarily be unaware. Why not pick your favourite athlete and search for them on the ‘net to see if they have a site? |
