 Summary of Key Findings 

Amongst all responding clubs:

  • 47.5% have up to 199 members
    (these clubs have a weighting of 1);

  • 25.8% have 200 - 299 members
    (these clubs have a weighting of 2);

  • 14.0% have 300 - 399 members
    (these clubs have a weighting of 3);

  • 7.3% have 400 - 499 members
    (these clubs have a weighting of 4);

  •  5.4% have 500 members or more
    (these clubs have a weighting of 5);

Following the application of the weightings:

  • 58.6% stated that their club supports the proposals for the decentralisation of athletics delivery;

  • 55.6% stated that their club supports the proposed accountability plans for athletics in the UK;

  • 50.3% stated that their club supports the proposed financial direction for athletics in the UK;

  • 41.4% stated that their club supports implementing the membership scheme as presented in the accompanying documents;

Among each club size:

  • 221 completed and valid questionnaires from those clubs with up to 199 members were received.  From the total of 993 which were sent out to clubs of this size, this gives a response rate of 22.3%;

  • 120 completed and valid questionnaires from those clubs with 200 - 299 members were received.  From the total of 283 which were sent out to clubs of this size, this gives a response rate of 42.4%;

  • 65 completed and valid questionnaires from those clubs with 300 - 399 members were received.  From the total of 121 which were sent out to clubs of this size, this gives a response rate of 53.7%;

  • 34 completed and valid questionnaires from those clubs with 400 - 499 members were received.  From the total of 53 which were sent out to clubs of this size, this gives a response rate of 64.2%;

  • 25 completed and valid questionnaires from those clubs with 500 or more members were received.  From the total of 33 which were sent out to clubs of this size, this gives a response rate of 75.8%.
