I ALWAYS keep a sharp eye on what’s happening in the USA. In the power events, they reign supreme and time and again they produce awesome talent. I cannot begin to comprehend the potential of Kerron Clement in the 400m hurdles (not to mention the 400m).

There are those experts who put the might of the USA down to a large population, drugs or exploitation of youth but there has to be more than just population behind their domination of athletics over the past century.

While on vacation in Florida I passed an advertising hoarding giving details of a High School meet in Naples and, since I can’t resist anything to do with athletics, I paid my three bucks and attended.
