By Steven Mills, March 13th 2010

Jessica Ennis started her campaign for the world indoor pentathlon title with 8.04 in the 60m hurdles

WORLD heptathlon champion Jessica Ennis made a very spirited start to her quest for pentathlon gold in Doha.

Ennis was never headed as she won the 60m hurdles in 8.04 for 1120 points and the Commonwealth bronze medallist has already established a lead over her principal rivals.

Olympic silver medallist Hyleas Fountain took second in 8.20 for 1084 points, Olympic champion Natallia Dobrynska from Ukraine was fifth in 8.50 for 1017 points while world No.1 Tatyana Chernova took sixth in 8.51 for 1015 points.
