By Steven Mills, March 7th 2010

Katarina Johnson-Thompson won the pentathlon at the Combined Events International in Bompas in a UK under-20 indoor record of 4146

Combined Events International U23/U20, Bompas
WORLD youth heptathlon champion Katarina Johnson-Thompson dominated the pentathlon and the Liverpool Harrier set a lifetime best of 4146 to take the victory. The 17-year-old won the competition by a convincing margin from City of Stoke’s Alice Lennox, who finished second in a lifetime best of 3806.

Lennox’s club-mate Jazmin Sawyers finished fifth, also in a PB of 3576 while Emma Buckett (Basingstoke & Mid Hants) placed seventh in 3338.

Johnson-Thompson opened her account with 8.85 for the 60m hurdles, which was followed by a 1.81m clearance in the high jump, 6.12m for the long jump, 9.90m in the shot put and a solo 2:21.35 in the 800m.

Johnson-Thompson’s score of 4146 also equates to an under-20 UK indoor record as the youngster surpasses the mark of 4096 by Aileen Wilson.
