GB multi-events star hangs up her spikes after a long and distinguished career

DENISE LEWIS, the 2000 Olympic heptathlon champion, has retired from the sport due to ongoing injury problems.
She first came to prominence in 1994 when she won the heptathlon title at the Commonwealth Games and two years later won an Olympic bronze medal in Atlanta.

After landing the 1998 European crown her finest hour came in Sydney when she defied a recurring Achilles problem to strike Olympic gold.
